Hitch Hiking in Guatemala

The flight from Playa went very smoothly. I had a connection flight in Panama and had exactly enough time to get from one plane to another because mine was already boarding. Thankfully I made a friend on the plane ride to show me exactly where my gate was. Roberto is from Panama and he and all of his male relatives had just taken a vacation to Cancun. He was super nice and gave me his info in case we're ever in Panama. He introduced me to his brother and uncle and then gave me the typical farewell from Central American as I took off toward my gate. I was already happy to be in Central America again...and then I got to Guatemala City.

I went through customs just fine and then went outside to find the man the holding my name up. Long story short, I waited 45 minutes and never saw my name, security guards were asking me if I needed to call someone to come get me, and I was getting a little nervous. I met another girl going to Antigua to study at a different school. Her school was over an hour late. As soon, as I saw her name being held up I teared-up because I had no idea how to get to Antigua (I was scared to take a shuttle by myself) and the one friend I made was about to leave. She refused to go without me and so her school ended up taking me too. What made this really bad is Rita was expecting me to be on her shuttle so she was panicked and our husbands were texting trying to figuring everything out and then she made her driver turn around to get me once Tim texted that I had made it to the airport but had no shuttle (I called him in a panic before I hitched a ride). Well, of course I was already gone. It was a big old mess. I had convinced myself Rita didn't know I was supposed to be on her shuttle and there was a misunderstanding with the school about when I was arriving. I figured she would already be in Antigua when I arrived and I could email T when I got there to tell him everything was okay. Yeah, I was wrong but hey it's okay now.

Rita and I had dinner last night and then I crashed because of my 2 1/2 hours of sleep the night before. Today has been good. I like my teacher and still love Antigua. We're taking Salsa lessons tonight so I should have a good story tomorrow.
