1. The extended travel bug bit last year and I've been itching for summer to get here so I could take another long trip. Tim is very happy about that! Not because he wants to get me out of his hair for a while (that's a side benefit), he wants to eventually join...wish the USA believed in extended vacay for their workers like some other countries.
2. The people of Guatemala made a profound impact on me last year, as I'm sure any culture and people would to anyone if they allow themselves to open up. However, the kids at the school and their families especially made their mark on my life and I couldn't forget them all year long.
3. That being said, I do have to admit I considered going to Vietnam, China, or Ethiopia instead. I was torn between experiencing another culture and going back to those that I shared so much with the year before. As luck would have it, my friend, Ashley is getting married, in Mexico this summer. Flights from Mexico to any of those other destinations were too expensive, so decision made.
Whatever made it happen, lack of funds, fate, or something in between, I'm glad to be going back and can't wait to leave.
I'll be in Mexico for the wedding June 3rd-June 7th and Guatemala from June 7th-July 4th (it really is 4 weeks truly in Guatemala, the calendar just falls funny).
